Thank you to the parents, grandparents and friends who joined us in celebrating Pancake Day 2025! It was a warm day, but we enjoyed beautifully cooked pancakes and a great time together as a school community while raising funds for UnitingCare.
The UnitingCare network in South Australia includes a wide range of specialised services, including schools and colleges, health and aged care providers, community care, and relief centers, offering support to individuals and families across the region. Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is a special day in the Christian calendar. It is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent- 40 days of prayer, reflection, and preparation for Easter.
Why Do We Eat Pancakes?
Many years ago, people used Lent as a time to fast or give up rich foods like eggs, milk, and butter. To use up these ingredients before Lent began, families would make pancakes! This is why Pancake Day became a fun and delicious tradition.
Pancake Day is not just about eating pancakes – it’s about preparing our hearts for Easter and remembering God’s love and forgiveness.
A very special thank you to all the helpers who made the afternoon possible!
